Starting Dovecot Imap: Warning: fd limit (ulimit -n) is lower than required under max

Hi Friends,

One of our client getting these types of LFD messages :-

I have gone through different forums and post but couldn't get exact solutions on this.

While restart dovecot at first time I got an error like this :-

After executing this command again it started ok.

Can you please let us know why such errors occurs?

P.S. At the file /etc/security/limits.conf there is an line for dovecot soft limit and hard limit which was set to 40000.

Cannot access WHM after installation

So this is my first crack at CPanel and CentOS and I'm having issues.
First off, I've loaded CentOS onto a VM in Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V.
I got CentOS loaded and downloaded and installed CPanel per the instructions. When I go to http://192.168.5.72:2087 it tells me the web page can't be displayed. I checked the error_log and I posted the output of it on the attachment.
Can anyone please help me get past this???

WHM & IPv6

ok, let me try and get some help here. I understand that IPv6 is to help alleviate the finite number of IPv4s in use. I have also heard that we should make sure our websites are IPv6 ready using a tester like this: IPv6 test - web site reachability

Now the question. Our data center can provide 1 IPv6 to us. Do we just get our server management company to set this up inside WHM?

Would we bind all websites to this 1 IPv6 or we do need a dedicated one for each domain?

In addition to WHM setup of IPv6, do we need to do anything to the server or domain content to make sure we are IPv6 ready?

A little new at this. Any info you care to share would be great!

root access via WHM denied

I just setup a new CPanel WHM server within the last 24 hours. everything was working fine until I shutdown the server and transferred it into the Server rack. After powering it everything works except I can't log in to WHM with root account. I am very sure of the password because the same credentials is able to give me ssh access over the same IP. The server sits behind a firewall so it is configured with a private IP address which is NAT to an assigned public IP address.

I followed some past threads and disabled cphulk but still did not get access. Before shutting down however, I created two hosting accounts. I am able to log in to the accounts with the account usernames and passwords but can't get access with the root account.

How do I resolve this in time as this is suppose to be a proof of concept to get my office to invest in licensing our new servers and I am very sure I have only 15 days before the license the expires.

Mail Delivery Reports

Hi,

I need to get all the emails sent and received for a domain for a period of time.

I could get all the data via the Mail Delivery Reports from WHM, but I need to send those stats to the client.

I could do a huge copy paste, but I would lost formatting and it would be a pain to sort everything out.

I checked in cPanel and there's no module to get the same data from there.

So, I am wondering if I could do some command line to get results of the Mail Delivery Reports in plaintext?

I did try

cat /var/log/exim_mainlog | grep @domain.com > domain.com.txt

But it didn't load as many results as I can have in the Mail Delivery Report.

Please help,

Demo API account

Hi all,

I have following question;
I need to develop a rather simple API call against cPanel. Docs and everything is OK and I believe I will find my way around.

However what I am looking for is a demo API account / server. I only need domain (single user) access.

It would be a bit overkill to take VPS with unlimited cPanel license which would be at cheapest +/- 20 euro's a month.

cPanel offers demo accounts, to be more specific the 'Domain owners' demo. However I am not sure API access is enabled on that one? If not, any other suggestions?! :)

Also, another question; API ACL works just like GUI does, yes? If I provide single user / domain owner credentials I will be able to access API functions related to that ACL?

Newsletter Blast sending duplicates to subscribers using mailman

Hi,

We've been using mailman for quite a long time now, and suddenly the last newsletter we sent out sent duplicates to random users as far as I can tell.

All the people that have e-mailed us about this issue were specifically yahoo addresses. Reports of 4-50 duplicates per user were sent to them. We only have one list of users we send users to, and this is the first time this has ever happened.

I have a few accounts added to the list myself, and my aol account did not recieve the email at all. Previously the aol account received the messages, I had a couple of the newsletters in my account still unread.

So, my question specifically... does anybody have advice in what I should look for as to why this happened? I read a post from 2002 that was somewhat similar to this issue, but it had to do with not haveing enough memory... and currently my server has 53gigs free, so that couldn't be the issue... unless of course you have to 'allocate' memory to mailman in some config file. We have about 12k users on our list.

Thank you in advance, and let me know if I lacked some details to help solve my issue.

Mod_Security Broke My Wordpress!

I really want to say something rude, but I'm going to try to be constructive. My server auto-updated to WHM 11.40.1 last night, and I have been unable to login to ANY Wordpress site on my server since.

After 4 hours beating my head against a wall trying everything (you can read the whole saga here on Wordpress.org), I finally figured that the SERVER was blocking wp-login.php at every turn. I tried disabling plugins, tried the default theme, tried increasing PHP's memory, tried disabling .htaccess for that account, tried everything.

I was only able to determine that something at the server level was causing problems after DELETING the wp-login.php file, resubmitting the cached form, and still getting a "." result rather than a 404.


I went into Mod Security and found a page full of these reported entries:

MySQL 5.1 to 5.5 upgrade command-line

Is there any way to upgrade MySQL from version 5.1 to version 5.5 from the command-line?

I realize I would have to run easyapache to recompile PHP after doing this, but is there a way to do this? Or do you have to do the upgrade through the WHM interface for every server?

Webmail Login Theme Change

It appears the option to change default webmail login theme is no longer available under tweak settings. I've checked modify package and account and do not see an option to change the webmail login theme attached to a custom cPanel theme. How does one change this now?

Trying to view the INBOX in horde webmail app I'm getting this error:

Al the other mailboxes including a rather full spam box work, its only affection this one inbox on this one specific user.

Fixed mailbox permissions, restarted cpsrvd and forced an cPanel update - still getting error..

Anacron job cron.daily

I notice I just started getting these notices after the last Cpanel Stable update 11.40.01-9 when the daily cron runs:

I don't have any problems connecting at the command line w/mysqladmin and the root my.cnf file is configured properly too. Any suggestion would be appreciated as how to fix this.

How can I stop default accounts from sending mail?

Hi all,

I have just had a quick check of my mail server logs and have discovered that one of my accounts is sending a whole lot of mail and I was wondering if there is anyway to block a specific account from sending mail on the server?

The email address they are using is in the format: accountname@mailserver.co.uk

I have suspended the account for now and am going to check through to remove any scripts that are in their folder but I would really like these accounts to be stopped from sending anything in the future.

I dont get an error mail reporting a problem and in whm i see this in delivery event details:
